Malet Street Reception Area,
University life can sometimes feel like a maze – with rules, policies, and processes that are hard to understand. But you don’t have to figure it out on your own!
That’s where our Clued Up sessions come in. Each month, Birkbeck Students’ Union Support (SUS) runs interactive sessions to give you clear, friendly and non-judgmental advice on all sorts of academic issues, including:
• Appeals and how to challenge academic decisions
• Academic offences (like plagiarism and AI use)
• Code of Student Behaviour and disciplinary matters
• Mitigating circumstances and extensions
• Complaints and how to raise them
• Wellness reviews, transferring courses or suspending studies
• Withdrawing from university
• Plus, where to find further support if you need it
✨ This month’s focus: Dyslexia Awareness Week ✨
We’re shining a spotlight on dyslexia and the ways Birkbeck can do more to support students with learning differences.
Our Education Sabbatical Officer, Hattie, will be joining us to hear directly from students. This is your chance to share your story, your challenges, and your ideas about what the University could do better. Together, we’ll create five student-led pledges to present to academic staff, making sure the needs of dyslexic students are recognised and acted on.
💬 We want you to be heard.
Whether you’ve had good or difficult experiences, your voice matters. By speaking up, you’ll be helping shape real change that will benefit you and future Birkbeck students.
