No, this is not the song by either Wham! or Leonard Cohen, but an offbeat German sci-fi romance film with many moments of sweetnes and brilliance!
'I'm Your Man' follows Alma, a scientist looking to obtain research funds for her studies, when she's introduced to Tom, a humanoid robot. She's coerced into an extraordianry experiment with the promise of receiving the funds for her researcg: for 3 weeks she has to live with Tom, tailored to her character and needs, created solely to make her happy.
On top of its lighthearted, at times meandering romantic plot, 'I’m Your Man' explores the social, psychological and ethical implications of programmed humanoid robots as part of our modern lives.
The screening will begin at 6:30pm on Friday 21st of February in MAL B18 (room 18 on the basement level of the main Birkbeck building on Malet Street). Tickets are free, and current students and alumni are welcome!
