Have you seen this woman? How far out of your mind would you go to find her?
Rex and Saskia are a young couple in love and on holiday in France. When they stop at a busy service station for some petrol, Saskia disappears. In 'The Vanishing' (1988) Rex dedicates his life to finding her; even after three years and no signs of Saskia, he remains obsessed with solving her mysterious disappearance. that is, until he starts receiving letters from her abductor.
'The Vanishing' is a Dutch psychological thriller with a chiling portrayal of sociopathy, loss and the abyss of both human evil and desperation. It'll keep you guessing, it'll get under your skin, and it'll stick with you.
The screening will begin shortly after 6:30pm on Friday 28th of March in MAL B35 (room 35 on the basement level of the main Birkbeck building on Malet Street). Tickets are free, and current students and alumni are welcome!
Dutch foods and snacks will be provided at the screening,
