MAL B36, Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street, London
To close out September, we will be screening one of the foremost thrillers of the 21st century (which incidentally celebrates its 20th anniversary this year): Park Chan-wook's Oldboy (2003).
This film follows Dae-su, held captive for 15 years, as he seeks revenge on his captors after his sudden and unexplained release. As part of Park's spiritual "Vengeance" trilogy, book-ended by Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (2002) and Lady Vengeance (2005), it garnered high praise at its time of release, including the Grand Prix award at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, and is generally considered one of his best known films.
This will begin shortly after 6:30pm on Friday 29th September in MAL B36 (room 36 on the basement level of the main Birkbeck building on Malet Street). Tickets are free, and students and alumni are welcome.
See you there!
