Hosted in the Immersive PC Lab, we will break down the complex world of manual settings into easy-to-understand principles. You will learn how to capture high-quality, professional-grade footage that serves your story, rather than just hitting "Record."

? What We Will Cover:

• The Exposure Triangle: Mastering the balance between Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO to achieve the perfect shot in any lighting.
• The Cinematic Look: Understanding frame rates (24fps vs. 25fps) and the 180-degree shutter rule.
• The Temperature of Film: How to set manual White Balance to ensure accurate skin tones and consistent colour.
• The Eye of the Camera: Using different lenses and depth of field to lead your viewer’s eye.
• Professional Profiles: An introduction to Picture Profiles and "Log" recording for maximum dynamic range.

?️ Practical Hands-On Activity:

Theory is nothing without practice. You will spend time performing hands-on camera tasks, including:

• Static Composition: Building a balanced frame.
• Focus Pulls: Practising smooth transitions between subjects.
• Intentional Movement: Executing professional pans, tilts, and pushes.

? Equipment Requirements:

Please bring your own camera or a smartphone with manual video controls. While we will have a limited number of workshop cameras available for use, these are not guaranteed. Bringing your own device ensures you learn the settings on the gear you will actually be using for your future projects.
