Join the Birkbeck Film Society as we hold our long awaited (and requested) tribute to activist and cinematic titan Robert Redford, who sadly passed away last September at the age of 89.
We will start our tribute to the Sundance kid (the same week the 2026 Sundance Film Festival will be underway) through a showing of Downhill Racer (1969), a character study of an ambitious skier in crisis that was both one of Redford's best films and performances. We will then follow-up Downhill Racer with a showing of Quiz Show (1994), an ambitious true crime mystery drama that Redford directed and was nominated for an Oscar for.
Our screening of Downhill Racer (1969) will begin just after 12pm in MAL B35 (Room 35 on the basement level of the Birkbeck Main Building on Malet Street) on Sunday the 25th of January, before we take a short break, and then press play on Quiz Show (1994) just after 2.30pm.
