Free Taster Swim session with B-LUST

Join us for a fun taster session every Monday of October with the UoL swim team B-LUST for the perfect opportunity to unwind, meet new people, and stay fit! Whether you're a beginner or an experienced swimmer, please join us and come meet the team!

*Please remember: we are a student-led society and we do NOT run 'swimming lessons': the sessions will be led by a member of the committee, who will provide a structured training schedule and personalised advice when needed to accommodate everyone's level, however please make sure you sign up only if you are comfortable being in the water and know how to swim (no worries if you need to work on your technique, we'll take care of that!).

Schedule:

Monday 19:30 - 21:00 (two lanes)

19:15 - meet at reception, a committee member will be there to welcome you. Otherwise let reception know that you are with us.

19:30 - on poolside ready to swim!

21:00 - session finishes (it's also ok if you need to leave earlier!)

21:01 - join the club ;)

Please ensure you arrive 5-15 minutes in advance and let a committee member know you are there.

What should I bring?

Please make sure you bring your own swimsuit, towel, goggles and swim cap!! For any last-minute purchases, the YMCA reception does sell swim gear, but they only offer limited options (and definitely not at the lowest prices!).

Do I need to be a 'fast swimmer' to join? / Are competitions mandatory for the competitive team?

No and no! We cater for swimmers of every level. As long as you know how to swim, you should be fine. Competitions are optional for anyone who wants to join.

I loved the taster session - how can I get a membership?

You can buy your membership via the Birkbeck Student Union website (https://www.birkbeckunion.org/communities/sports/org/6456/). Please make sure you create a new account first to see and purchase the membership for the term or the whole year.
